About
Jo Richards is a highly respected Pilates and movement therapist, known for her work in injury rehabilitation and sports performance. With over 18 years of experience, Jo has worked with a wide range of clients—including elite athletes, those recovering from injury, and Pilates enthusiasts—and brings both depth of knowledge and practical skill to her teaching.
Her practice is grounded in a thoughtful, intelligent approach to movement. Jo supports clients with everything from disc and spinal issues to shoulder injuries, hypermobility, pre- and post-natal care, and surgical rehab. She’s particularly passionate about helping people find more ease, strength, and awareness in their bodies—whatever their background or goals.
A comprehensively trained Polestar Pilates teacher and long-standing mentor for the Polestar education team, Jo has also trained in a number of other therapeutic methods and body courses, including fascial anatomy under Gary Carter, and is a qualified Oov instructor. Her interests include the impact of trauma on the body and the connection between psychology, performance, and injury. In 2023, she completed a course in Psychology at Oxford University and is currently studying neuroscience and its relationship to movement.
Jo’s background includes rehabilitation-focused personal training and strength and conditioning, and she continues to enjoy weightlifting and training herself. Her goal is always to help people move better, avoid injury, and reduce pain—giving them the tools to take charge of their own well-being.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts, where she wrote her dissertation on performance and movement as a cathartic process. Jo is also the Wellness Director at Karma Group, bringing her holistic, body-mind approach to well-being across a global network of properties and members.
